Publication Cites "Novel" Windows and Doors in DePauw's Hoover Hall

DePauw University's Hoover Hall is cited in a Building Design + Construction article, "Products at work: 6 novel product applications." The piece points to products which "solved tricky problems on job sites."

In DePauw's 48,600 square-foot dining hall, "The windows and doors needed to complement the aesthetics of the campus," the article states. "Majesta windows were custom made to meet the large size specified. Ultra Series doors were pre-hung and included hand-routed grooves in the wood to simplify electrical connections."

The publication points to the work of Robert A.M. Stern Architects, JC Ripberger (exterior contractor), and Turner (the project's general contractor).

Dedicated in October 2016, Hoover Hall sits in the shadow of historic East College in the center of campus. The $32 million project, which took 29 months to complete (ground was broken on May 17, 2014), came in on time and under budget. The lead gift came from R. David and Suzanne A. Hoover, both 1967 graduates of DePauw.

Hoover Dining Hall received LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and is the third LEED Gold Certified building on the DePauw campus.  Read more here.

In May, the building was featured in Design Solutions, the official journal of the Architectural Woodwork Institute.

Earlier this month, Condé Nast Traveler listed DePauw as one of "The 50 Most Beautiful College Campuses in America." DePauw is one of three Indiana colleges on the list, joining Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame.  Read more here.
