Ruth Myers Honored as 'Difference Maker of the Year' in Putnam County

September 29, 2018

Ruth Myers, administrative assistant in DePauw University's Office of Academic Affairs, was honored for her volunteer efforts Thursday night as Putnam County's inaugural "Difference Maker of the Year."  The award was presented at a banquet at Greencastle Christian Church.

"Ruth Myers really doesn’t want all this attention," begins a Banner-Graphic article on the honor. "Never mind that her efforts through Phil the Need, Tools for School, Giving Tree and Delta Theta Tau should be held up as an example for the entire Putnam County community. Ruth just wants to help without really being noticed."

"I was shocked," Myers said of learning that she was the recipient of the award. "I was totally surprised because every one of these people were deserving of this. They picked 10 great finalists."

Myers told the newspaper's Jared Jernagan, "This is not what I do this for. I love the community. I couldn’t do this without the community."
