University Website Redesign Progress

February 5, 2018

In November, the Office of Communications and Marketing launched a new university homepage and other top-tier pages aimed primarily at prospective students, their families, and visitors. That was Phase I of a larger, ongoing website redesign project. Phase I created an attractive new entry point to all our public web content and a revised main navigation, which provides quick access for those audience groups to discover DePauw in a more engaging, effective manner.

We began Phase II of the redesign in January. In this phase, we will help administrative and academic departments audit and update the content of their websites, then transition those pages into the fresh look of the new templates.

In addition to the unified design and layout, these new templates include: better support for mobile devices; more options for page layout and displaying photos; a wider variety of “callouts” — customizable blocks of content; and enhanced opportunities for storytelling. In all, the new design is a…

A Tour of the New depauw.edu

November 2, 2017

Phase I: November 2017

A New University Website

On November 1, the Office of Communications and Marketing launched the first in a series of major updates to the depauw.edu website. The focus of this initial stage was to create a space for prospective students, their families, and visitors to find out about DePauw in a more engaging, effective manner.

Here is an explanation of some of the new and revised components of the site, including the goals and ideas that went into them.

1. Main Navigation

One of our primary goals was to streamline access to our extensive website’s content — thousands of pages created by hundreds of authors over a decade and more — so it was easier to access and engage with for new or unfamiliar audiences. Prospective students should be able to spend just a few minutes on the site and come away with a firm sense of what DePauw is, what we stand for, and why they should consider applying. Similarly, for their parents, the site needs to anticipate all the most…

Message from the Vice President Regarding Web Updates

October 24, 2017

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I write with an update on our ongoing efforts to improve the University’s website. As many of you know, we have been working alongside an agency, Dartlet, to create a more dynamic, accessible and navigable space. Prospective students and their families are the primary target audience for our website, and current students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members will continue to be important constituents.

On November 1, 2017, you will see the first of many changes to our site when the homepage and other top-tier pages get a fresh look in Phase I of the website rollout. These are pages that prospective students and their families are likely to land on as they discover DePauw.

Web transitions take time, ongoing feedback and continued monitoring of visitor analytics. To keep you informed, we have created a Web Updates Blog where you can track our progress and provide suggestions.

Throughout the next few months, the Communications and Marketing division and…

During Dr. McCoy's 32 listening sessions over the course of last academic year, what we knew to be true was made very clear: we need a new, updated, more user-friendly website. Alongside the work of our partner, Dartlet, the Communications and Marketing Team and the Web Team have been working to create a more updated, user-friendly website.

After extensive research and planning, and several months of internal development, we have created a space for prospective students, their families, and visitors to find out about DePauw in a more engaging, effective manner.

Suggestions from those listening sessions you'll find in the site update:

  • Stories of student success, rotated throughout the site
  • More faculty stories - front and center
  • Promote alumni success
  • Improved layout and styles for mobile devices
  • Enhanced and better quality video

Many others simply asked us…
