Douglas A. and Phyllis G. Smith Endowed Fund for Student-Faculty Research
The Douglas A. and Phyllis G. Smith Endowed Fund for Student-Faculty Research supports students who wish to pursue careers in medical research to work collaboratively with faculty members on research related to biomedical projects.
All projects and requests for funding must represent collaborative and mutually beneficial efforts by faculty members and students. This application is for funding for chemicals and expendables needed for a project, student travel to and from an internship site, student travel to present scientific results at regional or national disciplinary meetings, or other costs associated with the project.
Eligibility: Students must be in good academic standing and have no incomplete grades in regular semester courses to be eligible for faculty development funding. Graduating seniors are eligible to receive funding for activities completed by June 30.
Expectations and Rules:
- Applications to the Douglas A. and Phyllis G. Smith Endowed Fund must be submitted online two weeks in advance. There will be no retroactive funding.
- The maximum amount of an award from this fund is $600.
- This award may supplement funding from a Student Research and Artistic Grant or Student Faculty Summer Research project.
