Faculty and Staff News Roundup

Nahyan Fancy, professor of Middle East/comparative history, was appointed to a two-year term on the editorial board of Medical History, an international journal about the history of medicine that is published by Cambridge University Press.

 

Derek Ford, assistant professor of education studies, recently wrote a chapter “Pedagogy of the Oppressed for Revolution: Paulo Freire and Revolutionary Leadership” for the book, “Revolutionary Education: Theory and Practice for Socialist Organizers” which was published in December. He also recently co-authored an entry, “Communism: The Party – Pedagogy and Revolution from Marx to China” for the “Encyclopaedia of Marxism and Education.” In addition, he wrote an article, “Arrhythmanalysis and Revolutionary Rupture of Détournement: Lefebvre and the Pedagogical Rhythms of Post-Fordism,” which was published Jan. 12 in the peer-reviewed journal Postdigital Science and Education.

DePauw University Libraries

The libraries are happy to announce campus wide access to The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.  A one time registration is required for each title, but it’s fairly straightforward following the instructions on our Accessing News & Newspapers guide. If you have questions or difficulties registering, please reach out to the libraries at library@depauw.edu If you haven’t already, you can also activate your New York Times account while you’re there.

HSA Incentive Program
Our Healthy Tigers HSA Information Sessions
Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. via Zoom and Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. via Zoom.
The reimagined wellness program offers fun and exciting ways to get healthy with a new incentive menu to help you achieve your wellness goals and earn incentive dollars. The first 15-20 minutes of the session will review 2022 changes and introduce the new platform. The remainder of the session will be open to Q&A. Learn more. GOLD Learning Academy

Leading and Managing Change - Jan. 19, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Held via Zoom, in this session participants will explore common barriers to embracing change via the three-part model of Switch, identifying the role of the Rider (the logical need for change), the Elephant (the emotional response we have to change) and the Path (the plan to implement change). In addition, time will be given to explore how to utilize the 3-part model to create momentum for embracing and leading change. Register here.
