The GOLD Learning Academy - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the GOLD Learning Academy?
The GOLD Learning Academy is a structured and intentional professional-development model for DePauw employees.
Why should we invest in professional development?
According to a recent article in Academic Impressions, and national data, professional development is directly related to retention and job satisfaction. We know this to be an important employee investment that we have not historically offered. We are excited to provide opportunities for our employees to improve their skill set and knowledge base, as well as explore areas of interest to them.
What workshops should I attend?
Everyone can benefit from all of the workshops offered, as well as specific learning tracks, based on the point in time of the employee’s career. Tracks are represented on the calendar and in the course catalog.
What will I learn?
Each course supports learning outcomes identified in the GOLD pillars: personal growth; university and compliance operations; leadership and interpersonal skills expertise; and personal development.
Will the GOLD Learning Academy address issues of regulatory (compliance) training?
Yes, the academy will provide compliance training so our employees may stay current on regulatory and compliance issues. The academy will offer regular, annually required online training modules to support our commitment to compliance.
Who will lead the workshops?
A variety of on-campus presenters will lead workshops, as well as professional external training consultants.
How can I sign-up?
Workshops and training classes will be advertised through campus media, including GOLD Connect (Campus Labs); DeBrief, the faculty/staff e-letter and email announcements. Instructions for course registration will be provided via email and on the Human Resources website.
