BIRT reports are sent to the BIRT team and DePauw Police immediately upon submission to assess the need for immediate intervention. Any report that is deemed an immediate threat to campus or a member of the campus community, will follow the University's emergency communication protocol.
The BIRT Log is updated within 1 business day of receiving a report. All information listed in the BIRT Log is as it was reported. Please reference the "follow-up and investigation" tab to learn more about what is done after a BIRT report is submitted. DePauw Police does not have the capacity to assign charges, determination of charges is done by the Putnam County Prosecutors Office.

Investigation ongoing. Referred to DePauw Police and Information Services.
BIRT Chair with faculty representative to provide mediation guidance. Mediation conducted between instructor and student. Mediation was successful.
Investigation ongoing. Camera view of sign blocked by trees.
Met with Bon Appetit General Manager. Both employees were required to review and sign the "Fair Treatment and Respect" policy.
Met with the instructor. The instructor apologized to the class for the harm caused. Met with the student. The student didn't perceive bias on part of the instructor.
Outside the jurisdiction of the Bias Incident Response Team. Greencastle NAACP to review.
