Standing for Social Justice
After my sophomore year, I went to Belfast, Northern Ireland, during May term. Our group worked with children from different backgrounds and different parts of the city in an effort to alleviate some of the longstanding sectarian divisions that have persisted in that part of the world. Working with these children and witnessing the tedious process by which deep cultural wounds can heal inspired me to pursue a career in which I could be a part of those sorts of sociological transformations.
My experience in Northern Ireland enabled me to put issues of social justice in a new perspective, and realize how attending law school could be an avenue to give a voice to those who are oppressed by the forces around them.
