Parker Black '23 | Student

DePauw is a great school. I didn’t just choose it solely off of location. … It feels like the right choice so I just went with my gut feeling and went for it.

Cultivating Philanthropy

Parker, who grew up in Greencastle, is a guitarist in a Grateful Dead cover band; owns and operates a recording studio; and started a nonprofit to help school children pay for their lunches. He organizes benefit concerts – where he and his band Dreadful Greta perform – to raise money for the Project Cultivate nonprofit. The Putnam County Community Foundation named him Philanthropist of the Year for his involvement in his community.
