Julian Science and Mathematics Center Maker Spaces
The Percy L. Julian Science and Mathematics Center, in addition to housing classroom, laboratories and department resources, is also home to maker spaces for hands-on, highly technical STEM work.
- Drone Equipment and Instruction
The UAV lab, housed in the Department of Geology and Environmental Geoscience, is a research space for producing high-resolution terrain models from aerial imagery. The lab is equipped with a DJI Phantom 4 RTK drone flown by students who become FAA-licensed UAV pilots. It also contains a workstation with GIS and photogrammetry software for creating maps and 3-D terrain models. - Robotics and Electronics Equipment
- The Robotics Club Lab provides space for students to work on individual or group projects. The room features VEX robotics equipment and many shelves stocked with robotics parts such as motors, joints, links, and various mechanical and electronic components for movement, sensing, and control. The lab also has comfortable chairs for discussing projects and several large and small tables with chairs for building projects.
