Developing leaders the world needs
Leadership development is embedded throughout DePauw's liberal arts curriculum. The liberal arts infuse our three-school structure and form the foundation of how we develop leaders the world needs. Courses in the leadership minor and Sanger Leadership Initiative help students analyze leadership and focus their leadership development through curricular and hands-on opportunities.
Sanger Leadership practicum courses
Sanger Leadership Initiative practicum courses provide students with hands-on leadership learning experiences and help students connect with on- and off-campus partners and opportunities.
Programs
Sanger Leadership Initiative programs are designed to support student leadership development by clearing the way for students to experience and reflect on leadership, creating opportunities for them to build their leadership skills and providing resources for thinking broadly and creatively about what leadership is.
The Leadership Crisis Challenge is a 24-hour simulation in which you become a member of a board of directors navigating a major crisis. Develop your skills in communication, collaboration and ethical decision-making under pressure, all while having a great time and making new friends.
Leadership dialogues are available to any group on campus and run at regular intervals for our full community. They are facilitated opportunities to think creatively about what leadership means to you, what your values are and how we can work collaboratively to build amazing projects, organizations and community.
The leadership lounge provides a casual opportunity to get together with peers and talk about key leadership-related topics. These are facilitated, informal, relaxed opportunities to build friendships, talk through your ideas and learn about what others are thinking.
The fireside chat series brings invited guests to our community for intimate, informal conversations with students about what leadership means to them. Sometimes they even happen around a real fire!
We host workshops for students, faculty and staff interested in learning more about different approaches to leadership or learning tools they can use with their organizations. These are tailored to the specific needs of the group hosting the workshop.
