Hands-on leadership experiences
Sanger Leadership Initiative practicum courses provide students with hands-on leadership learning experiences and help students connect with on and off campus partners and opportunities.
Leadership for Student Success (LEAD EXP B&C): This course utilizes DePauw’s centers as a leadership laboratory, bringing together center directors, DePauw faculty, and outside partners to engage students in hands-on domain-specific leadership learning. The modules explore the intersections of leadership with civic engagement; sustainability; ethics; management & entrepreneurship; technology; contemporary media; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Leadership Development in Higher Education (LEAD EXP A): This course explores leadership development in higher education. Through a combination of readings and active engagement with DePauw community members—including students, staff, faculty, and organizational leaders—participants will gain insights into how various groups on campus work towards DePauw’s mission to “develop the leaders the world needs through an uncommon commitment to the liberal arts.”
Leadership in Business and Beyond Winter Term: This course provides an in-depth exploration of leadership theories and strategic action planning for success. It covers topics such as psychological safety, belonging, diversity, and environmental, social, and governance responsibilities in the realm of business and leadership. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical activities, students will gain insights into self-leadership, leading others, and leading organizations.
