Studying Environmental Geoscience at DePauw
As human populations grow, they inevitably require more water, energy and mineral resources. They also require assistance in responding to natural events such as flooding, hurricanes and earthquakes. These emerging needs are just a few of the reasons why environmental geoscience jobs are currently in high demand, with even more growth projected in the years to come. From sustainability services and academic research to renewable energy and secondary education, the professional opportunities in this field are both abundant and promising.
At DePauw, environmental geoscience is an interdisciplinary program that combines courses from several different fields to investigate the earth’s history, its materials, its environmental challenges and its surface processes and landforms. During your course of study, you’ll explore contemporary issues such as pollution, climate change and resource management. More importantly, you’ll do so alongside exemplary faculty mentors who will help connect you to research, internships and unique travel opportunities that allow you to take your learning far beyond the classroom.

Geology and Environmental Geoscience
Leveraging the resources of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the environmental geoscience major and minor at DePauw are housed in the Department of Geology and Environmental Geoscience.
