The material remains of a culture offer unique insights into the lives of those who have gone before us. How did they live? What did they value? What stories shaped them? The study of classical archaeology seeks to answer these questions by analyzing the architecture, artifacts and ancient landscapes of the Mediterranean world. Yet this minor gives you more than a window into the past. It also cultivates a deeper understanding of how those past civilizations became foundational to the organization and ideologies of many societies today.
The classical archaeology minor is inherently interdisciplinary, connecting history, art, anthropology and philosophy. It provides you with a broad and well-rounded academic experience, ideal for exploring how different fields of knowledge intersect. In addition to expanding your knowledge through coursework in the classroom, you’ll also be encouraged to participate in hands-on learning through summer fieldwork.
