In a world increasingly marked by interconnectedness and globalization, a major in Romance languages can position you to address numerous contemporary challenges. Not only does it give you the analytical tools to examine global issues such as migration and cultural hybridity through the lens of language and culture, but it also allows you to explore the complex ways in which language intersects with power structures and societal norms. These skills can pave the way for a successful career in international law and politics, economics, translation, education, science, business, civil service, media and many more.
Combining the major requirements of either global French studies, Hispanic studies or Italian cultural studies with courses from another Romance language – French, Italian or Spanish – the interdisciplinary nature of this major will expose you to a full spectrum of cultural, linguistic, historic and literary research in a variety of different fields. You’ll also have the opportunity to study abroad or complete an internship in an area that aligns with your professional and academic interests.
