Do you aspire to be an empathetic change-maker who can address injustice on personal, interpersonal and institutional levels? With a major or minor in women’s, gender and sexuality studies (WGSS), you can be just that. Understanding how gender, race, sexuality and other axes of identity shape our experiences is key to challenging systems of oppression and creating a more just, inclusive society. It’s also a valuable foundation for impactful careers across many fields, including education, law, social work, healthcare, business and activism.
The WGSS curriculum offers a comprehensive exploration of feminist, queer, anti-racist and decolonial theories. Courses cover topics such as gender, media and popular culture; climate justice; women in STEM; queer literature; and reproductive justice. Within these learning environments, you’ll engage in dynamic discussion and productive collaboration. Additionally, you’ll have multiple opportunities to connect theory to practice through study abroad programs or involvement with centers and student organizations across campus.
