Studying Ethics in Society at DePauw
Ethical decision-making is a fundamental feature of the human condition, pervading our civic lives as well as every kind of professional practice. The ethics in society minor is designed to help you acquire the discernment, reflection, empathy and critical thinking you’ll need to navigate these crucial questions and build a foundation for ethical leadership. This is a highly versatile course of study that can accompany any major, resulting in a personalized academic experience that is tailored to your interests and long-term goals.
The freedom inherent in the ethics in society minor allows you to choose an already defined track – such as business ethics, sustainability, racial justice or biomedical ethics – or choose something more original. In addition to core courses that address the norms and values at stake in any domain, you’ll also enjoy more focused courses that add depth of knowledge as well as an experiential capstone that will help you synthesize the development of your moral reasoning.
