Associate Professor of Sociology

Alicia Suarez (Assistant Professor, 2008; PhD Indiana University, 2006) completed her PhD in Sociology at Indiana University in 2006. Her teaching and research interests include medical sociology, sexuality, gender, deviance and criminology. Her past research examined illness experience with hepatitis C virus (HCV), a culturally invisible chronic illness.  Her current research examines attitudes of persons working in health care towards persons with HCV. Her next project will examine midwifery in Indiana. She was an Assistant Professor at Pacific Lutheran University for two years before returning to DePauw University in 2008.
