Faces of DePauw

Erin Pasch Alumni

I’ve met a lot of great people who have a genuine love for service and helping others.

Committed to Community Service

My time in the Bonner Scholar Program was the most meaningful experience I had at DePauw. I met a lot of great people who had a genuine love for service and helping others. Through my time at various service sites, I found that I loved the volunteer environment and wanted to make community service a lasting part of my dental career. Additionally, the Bonner Program does a great job educating its members about the ethics of service and social justice, which is something I came to appreciate greatly.

Track taught me a lot about myself and how to approach life in general. My performances during my first year on the team were not great and left me pretty discouraged. I questioned whether I should continue on the team. However, I stuck with it and am glad I did. The progress I made over the years helped me understand that, if you buy into a process, the payoff will show.

And what was even more impactful were the relationships that I made along the way as a team member. I met many of my closest friends through the team. The coaching staff is also amazing; the coaches regularly demonstrated that they cared about me as a person and not just as an athlete. I’m especially appreciative for getting to work with coach Crary over my four years at DePauw. He supported me greatly in all aspects of my life at DePauw and I couldn’t have asked for a more caring coach.

While everyone’s experience is unique at DePauw, I couldn’t have asked for much more from my time there. The connections and opportunities have given me opportunities I wouldn’t have imagined while I was in high school. The faculty and staff genuinely care about you. Even though classes are competitive and quite challenging, you can still see that professors’ goals are for you to succeed.
