About Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc...

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is the first Inter-Collegiate Black Greek Letter fraternity. It was founded on December 4, 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

On April 6, 2005, the Rho Tau chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was established at DePauw. The Rho Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. hosts of number of annual programs, including the W.E.B. Du Bois Speaker Series and Breakfast with the Alphas. Additionally, since being established at DePauw, the men of the Rho Tau Chapter have received the following awards and honors:

  • 2011 District of Indiana Chapter of the Year
  • District Torchbearer Award (Naeem Muhammad)
  • Order of Omega Rising Greek Leader Award (Naeem Muhammad)
  • Order of Omega Fraternity Member of the Year (Patrick Springer)
  • Mighty Midwest Region Oratorical Champion (Patrick Springer)

Alpha Phi Alpha's colors are Black and Gold and their flower is the Yellow Rose.
