There are five honors programs that offer internships, research opportunities and/or independent study for exceptional students.
The Honor Scholar Program is designed for the individual who realizes that wisdom begins with wonder. Honor Scholars epitomize the ideals of a liberal arts education, striving to push themselves intellectually, as well as personally. The program offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary research and creative learning.
The Information Technology Associates Program (ITAP) provides DePauw students with an unparalleled opportunity to link a liberal arts education with technology know-how through four years of on-campus internships with a wide range of information technologies. ITAP Associates are closely mentored by faculty members, IT staff, and experienced students, and they are paid an hourly wage as they master new skills. ITAP students are prepared for the teambased work environments they encounter after graduation, where technical fluency, leadership abilities, and interpersonal skills are most important to success.
The Management Fellows Program is a learning experience integrating the study of management and entrepreneurship with a liberal arts education, top-notch lecture series, and a full-time, semester-long paid internship.
Students have interned all over the world in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Past internship sites include: Goldman, Sachs & Co., Chicago; Partners in Housing Development Corp., Indianapolis; Ernst & Young Global, New York; Brunswick Group, New York; BrandEra, Fort Worth, Texas; Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, Inc., Washington, D.C.; Cummins Inc. in India; and Independent Purchasing Cooperative, Miami, Florida.
The Media Fellows Program combines classroom theory with hands-on media experience within The Eugene S. Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media. Semester-long, off-campus internships and a speaker series highlight an exploration into the theory and practice of media and give students insight into the world of radio, television, print journalism, advertising, public relations, film and the Internet.
The Science Research Fellows program is designed for curious students with an interest in hands-on research. Students conduct scientific research both on and off campus and learn to professionally present their scientific results. First-year students receive a summer stipend for collaborative research with a DePauw faculty member. Recent internship sites include: Harvard Medical Research Laboratories, NOAA, Duke University Nuclear Physics, Max Planck Institute, and Monterey Bay Aquarium.
