Forging a Path to Civic Engagement
I chose DePauw because I knew it would provide me with countless academic and cocurricular opportunities that few other universities could. Likewise, its reputation of excellence and rigor as a liberal arts institution made my college decision so simple; I knew that a DePauw education would give me the tools necessary to stand out among others and succeed far beyond my undergraduate studies.
DePauw attracts student leaders – passionate and driven individuals who seek to make a difference in the world. Students at DePauw have a deep-rooted passions they wish to pursue, and whether it’s service, music, poetry, science or social justice, DePauw’s supportive community encourages and celebrates each one in taking root and growing.
As a political science major and mathematics and Spanish double minor, I hope to pursue a career in teaching or civic service. My involvement in the first-year mentor program and DePauw student government have helped me realize these future aspirations. And they have equipped me with the tools to foster my own personal growth in leadership and serving others.
