Four in a Row! DePauw Wins 131st Monon Bell Classic
The Monon Bell is staying in Greencastle.
For the fourth consecutive year, the DePauw Tigers have concluded the regular season with a victory in one of the nation’s most storied collegiate football rivalries. Saturday’s 41-20 win against Wabash in the 131st Monon Bell Classic propels DePauw to a 9-1 record on the season and earned the Tigers an at-large bid in the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
For DePauw’s senior class, the victory at Byron P. Hollett Little Giant Stadium capped off a four-year Monon sweep, the first DePauw class to achieve such a feat since 2000. It also brought the Tigers closer in the head-to-head standings, with Wabash holding a narrow 63-59-9 overall lead and an even slimmer 44-43-6 edge since the Monon Bell was introduced in 1932.
DePauw will hit the road to take on Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round of postseason play on Saturday, November 29.
