Growing up in the metropolitan area of Washington D.C., Shanice never experienced the midwestern charm until she began her college search. After visiting Franklin College, where she experienced the personalized attention and welcoming community, Shanice decided to make Franklin, Indiana her second home. During her four years at Franklin, she served as a First-Year Student Mentor, a Student Counselor in the Admission Office and participated in the FC band, choir, and wind ensemble.
Shanice’s liberal-arts education provided her with a number of experiential learning opportunities that included federal and state government internships and the opportunity to participate in a service-learning trip in Uganda. After graduating with a B.A. in political science in 2014, she decided to expand her horizons and travel abroad to Kuji, Japan where she taught English for a year. After returning from Japan, Shanice joined the DePauw community in August 2015. She loves sharing her personal liberal arts experience, in turn helping students and families navigate the college admission process.
Shanice loves to seek out new pizza spots followed-up by a good Zumba Dance workout to burn off the calories. She also enjoys finding natural hair care and interior decorating ideas on Pinterest.
