Professor of Communication and Theatre

Jonathan Nichols-Pethick is a professor of media studies in the Department of Communication and Theatre and is affilated with the Film and Media Arts program. He served as the Director of the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media from 2014-2021, and as the Director of the Media Fellows program from 2014-2022. Prof. Nichols-Pethick primarily teaches courses in film and media studies, including: Media, Culture & Society; Podcasting: Craft and Culture; Media Industries; and Media Criticism. His research interests include media history, media institutions, production studies, and genre analysis.  He is the author of the book TV Cops: The Contemporary American Television Police Drama (Routledge 2012) as well as several essays on contemporary television.
