Assistant Professor of Education Studies - on leave

Greetings from the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Piankashaw, Wea, Miami, Kickapoo, Potawatomi, and Shawnee! I am a daughter of refugee settlers of Azeri and mixed Iranian and Persian heritage, who arrived on Turtle Island in order to escape persecution and avoid further injustices they and their future children would have faced. Had my mother and father decided to stay, I would not have had the right to access higher education, so I am beyond grateful and humbled to be born in a place where I have the privilege and right to access higher education as both a student and an employee, ultimately leading me to arrive here and where I continue to go.


I am currently in my second year as Assistant Professor in Comparative Global Studies and Political Economy within the Education Studies Department at DePauw University. I am also a research associate at the Chair for Critical Studies in Higher Education Transformation (CriSHET) at Nelson Mandela University on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Khokhoi, San, and AmaXhosa (Port Elizabeth, South Africa).
