Shannon Barry is in her final year pursuing a five-year dual degree studying Vocal Performance and Biochemistry. Although she grew up in the California sun, she now lives in Palm Beach, Florida. She chose DePauw because of the supportive community, performing opportunities, and faculty relationships.
At DePauw, Shannon has taken advantage of the numerous performances, taking part in the operas, chamber ensembles, and scene concerts. The resources at DePauw have allowed her to also make her own opportunities, such as participating in summer festivals or making a small ensemble for her recital. Shannon prides herself on her strong academics, but is also active outside the classroom. She is a member of Delta Gamma and is an active member of First Christian Church.
After graduation she hopes to pursue an operatic career and her next step will be completing her Master’s Degree. Although opera is her main focus, she hopes to use her Biochemistry degree to be a lab assistant, become a TA, or tutor. DePauw has helped Shannon prepare for the future by giving her real-life experience and opportunities to help her grow.
