Janani Sridhar

Singaporean soprano Janani Sridhar is equally at home in opera and on the concert stage. Her performance engagements have taken her around Europe, Asia, and America. She also is an avid recitalist known for her diverse and engaging programming. Some of Dr. Sridhar’s recent performances include her debut at Carnegie Hall in Poulenc’s Gloria, Scarlatti’s Christmas Cantata, and Bach’s Coffee Cantata.
Mary Martin

Ms. Martin earned her B.M. and M.M. Vocal Performance degrees from the University of Michigan, where she had the honor of singing the Star-Spangled Banner for President Obama in the Michigan Football Stadium. She currently is completing her doctoral degree at Indiana University, where she studies with Carol Vaness and was a recipient of the Sarah Joan Tuccelli-Gilbert Memorial Fellowship.
Barbara Paré

Barbara Paré is an Assistant Professor of Music in the DePauw University School of Music, where she teaches applied voice to both School of Music and College of Liberal Arts students. In addition, Professor Paré is a member of the faculty for the Community Music Program, a resource that offers music training and education for learners of all ages.
Bruno Sandes

Known for his “ability to engage deeply with any audience” (Herald Times) and his “warm, refined, and mature voice” (NUVO), Brazilian-American baritone Bruno Sandes earned his B.M. and M.M degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He currently is in the final stages of completing his doctoral degree in vocal performance under the tutelage of Carol Vaness.
Eric Schmidt
Director, Choirs

Dr. Eric Schmidt joined the faculty at the DePauw University School of Music in 2018. He is Director of Choirs and teaches classes in the school’s 21CM Initiative. Outside of the University, he works extensively as a performer, conductor, and clinician. During the 2022-23 season, he prepared choirs for the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Utah Symphony, and the Grand Teton Music Festival.
Maria Lyapkova
Vocal Coach
A native of Moscow, Russia, Dr. Maria Lyapkova has performed at many international music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival & School (US), Spotlight on Young Musicians (France), and the Music of Norway (Norway/ Russia). An accomplished collaborative pianist, she also has appeared with principals of such leading orchestras as the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and The Bolshoi Theatre.
Deb Grammel

Under the direction of George Verdak, Deborah Grammel has performed in the classical ballets Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Raymonda, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty. In addition to her studies at Butler University in Indianapolis, she also has trained in Chicago, Houston, Miami, Michigan City, and New York City.
