A master of French concerto literature, Jean-Philippe Collard's interpretations of works by composers such as Bartok, Brahms, Gershwin, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and Strauss have been performed at recitals throughout Europe, North and South American, and the Far East. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Grand Prix du Concours National des Artistes Soloistes, Prix Albert Roussel, Prix Gabriel Fauré, Prix du Concours International Marguerite Long/Jacques Thibaud, and Grand Prix du Concours International Cziffra. In January 2003 Collard was named Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur.

A prolific recording artist, Mr. Collard's more than thirty titles have earned him awards such as Stereo Review's "Record of the Year," Gramophone magazine's "Best Concerto Recording," and the Grand Prix du Disque. “Jean-Philippe Collard is a remarkable pianist, representing the delicate and elegant French piano school, but also able to perform the most virtuosic works as well,” says DePauw Professor of Piano Claude Cymerman. Cymerman and Collard both studied with teacher Pierre Sancan at the Paris Conservatoire, and collaborated in 1984 on multi-keyboard Bach concertos for the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra.
