Rev. Kevin Armstrong '82 Remembers Fr. Clarence Waldon

August 16, 2005

August 16, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "He loved God, and he loved the community, and he couldn't leave one for the other," the Rev. Kevin Armstrong, senior pastor of North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and 1982 graduate of DePauw University, says of the Rev. Clarence R. Waldon in today's Indianapolis Star. Waldon, longtime pastor of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the first black Catholic pastor in the Indianapolis area, died Sunday. "He saw that neighborhood as holy ground," Armstrong says of the near-Northside area Waldon served. "For him, that meant staying in it and cultivating its talents."
