shibani bathija.jpgMay 19, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - A highly anticipated motion picture that was produced in India and opens worldwide next weekend is the work of a 1990 graduate of DePauw University. Shibani Bathija wrote the screenplay for Fanaa, which translates to "Destroyed in Love." The film stars Aamir Khan and Kajol, and, as Variety magazine notes, is "a love story involving a terrorist." It opens in theaters May 26.

Fanaa is the first film written by Bathija, who was an English Composition major at DePauw and now lives in Mumbai, India. "I have no fingernails left so am starting fanaa poster.jpgon the toes soon!," she jokes about her nervousness as the movie's release date approaches. "I do hope that people in the DePauw community get a chance to see it, and I believe (and hope) they will have a fulfilling cinematic experience."
