Leaves are highly dissected into multiple leaflets and lobes.

Flowers are white with yellow tips, droop in a row from an arched stem. Each flower has two inflated spurs, suggesting the legs of tiny pants, ankles up. Flowers produce nectar, attract bees.

More Information:

The genus name Dicentra is from the Latin for "twice-spurred," referring to the two-spurred flowers.  The species name cucullaria is from the Latin for "hooded."
