Kevin R. Armstrong '82 to Receive Alumni Citation at June 9 Alumni Reunion Weekend Dinner
Kevin Armstrong is Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President of Mission & Values at Indiana University Health where he serves as a leader and advisor to the President and CEO. He is helping develop the vision for a community benefit strategy in a new era of healthcare and is responsible for activities and programs that inspire and foster commitment to the mission and values of IU Health including values, ethics, philanthropy and pastoral care.
Kevin graduated from DePauw University in 1982 with a degree in political science and was awarded the University’s Walker Cup. He was a member of Gold Key, student body president and served as a student assistant pastor at Gobin United Methodist Church. Kevin earned a Master of Divinity from Duke University.
Following graduation from Duke, Kevin served as associate chaplain at DePauw and led weekend and Winter Term trips to Indianapolis, Sierra Leone, Haiti and Nicaragua. He spent the next 25 years serving Roberts Park and North United Methodist congregations in urban Indianapolis. His ministry has included local, national and international leadership in ministries of education, healthcare, housing, food sustainability and restorative justice.
Kevin joined the board of directors of Methodist Health Foundation in 2008 and chaired its 20th anniversary planned giving task force in 2010. In March 2012, Kevin became president of Methodist Health Foundation, the organization of philanthropic support for Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He has written and taught for religious, civic and government audiences; created publications for academic and public audiences; and directed an 11-part PBS series, “Faith & Community: The Public Role of Religion.”
Kevin has served DePauw as a member of the Board of Trustees, Fund for DePauw and reunion volunteer, Hubbard Center for Student Engagement internship host and member of the Indianapolis Regional Alumni Chapter. He is a loyal supporter of The Fund for DePauw and has named the University as a beneficiary in his estate plan.
