Order of Omega

Gamma Upsilon Chapter

The Order of Omega is a nationally-recognized leadership society for members of a fraternity and sorority community on a college campus. Initiates of the Order display qualities of leadership, scholarship, and service. The goal of Order of Omega is to improve relations within the fraternity and sorority community and to display high-quality leadership on DePauw’s campus.

The Order of Omega was founded at the University of Miami in the fall of 1959 by a group of outstanding fraternity men, who felt that individuals in the Greek community should be recognized for their service to the fraternity system and the University.

The Gamma Upsilon chapter of Order of Omega was established at DePauw University on March 27, 1981. Students seeking to be considered for membership in the Gamma Upsilon chapter must complete the required application, meet or exceed the following requirements: 

  • Obtain junior or senior status at the University
  • Been a member of one’s chapter for a minimum of one year
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher

Order of Omega Awards

Each year,  Order of Omega recognizes individuals and chapters on campus for their outstanding commitment and exemplary dedication in a variety of areas. The awards also provide the opportunity to recognize outstanding house directors and advisors who also work in support of the fraternity or sorority experience at DePauw.
