The end of the spring term has been difficult for everyone on multiple fronts, requiring us to change every aspect of our lives. What hasn’t changed is our longing to be back on campus with one another, which is a testament to the close-knit community we have built.

This shared desire has been a driving factor during our comprehensive fall planning efforts the past few weeks. March 15, 2020: Students Must Leave Campus Housing by 5 pm Monday

Dear DePauw students, faculty, staff and parents,

As you know, we have been monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation while planning and preparing for its potential impact to our campus. The CDC has now declared a Global COVID-19 outbreak, which means that the U.S. is on a level 2 travel advisory

There are currently no presumptive positive or suspected cases of COVID-19 on campus. We will update the community immediately if that situation changes.

However, all students who are not already approved to stay and are not still awaiting a response to a previous submitted petition must leave campus at latest by Monday, March 16 at 5 p.m. Read more.

March 13, 2020: Departing Campus ASAP, Funding Resources

Dear students,

As you are wrapping up classes, it is urgent that you depart campus as soon as you are able. Once you leave campus, you are not allowed to return to campus until further notice.

Indiana’s Governor, Eric Holcomb, last night announced new steps to protect the public from COVID-19 in the state of Indiana, which includes limiting non-essential gatherings and social events, and encouraging employers to allow employees to telecommute. Although campus will be open, we need to reduce the number of students physically on campus and make decisions in the interest of community health. Read more.

March 11, 2020: Coronavirus Update: suspension of in-person courses

Dear DePauw Students, Faculty and Staff,

As we continue to monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments, including its designation today as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, it is increasingly clear that we need to take further action to protect the health of our campus and Greencastle community.

Although there are no suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 on DePauw’s campus or in Greencastle, the number of cases in Indiana, the U.S. and across the globe continues to rise. Though unpredictable, the virus is known to be highly infectious and recommendations to slow transmission such as social distancing are challenging to achieve on our residential campus.  Read more.

The University will remain open on these dates and students will be fully supported. Faculty have received detailed information about resources for preparing for online instruction. Read more.
