Faces of DePauw

Matigan Williams ’24 Student

Because of its small student population, there are many opportunities to meet alumni and get to know faculty.

The Power of Networking

This summer I am interning with a U.S. senator in Washington, D.C. This internship is a tremendous opportunity to study the inner workings of the U.S. Congress and gives me the chance to expand my network before attending law school.

DePauw has prepared me for communicating and working with all types of people of various ages, backgrounds and professions. Because of its small student population, there are many opportunities to meet alumni and get to know faculty. This allows students to practice networking and talking with people who are not their peers. This skill translates to my work in Washington. I am comfortable talking with chiefs of staff and senators.

Wherever you go, DePauw will be there. Even though it is a small school in Indiana, it has tremendous outreach. This summer,  I have run into students and professors from DePauw on multiple occasions. It is amazing to see that wherever I go, I am a Tiger and am proud to represent DePauw.

After graduation, I plan to attend law school and pursue a career in public policy.
