DePauw University is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduates to earn their college degree, according to The Princeton Review, which today issued its 2021 college guide.

About 14% of America’s 2,800 four-year colleges are profiled in the book, which is based on data collected from administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings and from surveys of 143,000 students who attend institutions featured in the book and who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and experiences.

DePauw was cited for widely available internships, encouragement of class discussions and alumni’s activity on campus.

“Serious-minded students are drawn to DePauw University for its ‘small classes,’ ‘encouraging’ professors and the “individual academic attention’ they can expect to receive,” the guide said, quoting students who were surveyed. “Academically, DePauw is ‘demanding but rewarding’ and ‘requires a lot of outside studying and discipline’ in order to keep up.”

The survey also found that students build personal relationships with their professors and consider them to be “always helpful and available” and, “when things get overwhelming, ‘they are very understanding and will cut you a break if you really deserve’ it.”

The guide said: “Beyond stellar professors, DePauw’s other academic draws include ‘extraordinary’ study abroad opportunities and a ‘wonderful’ alumni network great for ‘connections and networking opportunities.’”
