Prospective Interns

ITAP is accepting applications from the Class of 2017. The program seeks outstanding leaders, thinkers, and communicators, and eligible students of all majors and career interests are encouraged to apply!

Application Directions

Please note instructions for applicants from the Class of 2017 are in the left-hand column. Those for current DePauw students from the classes of 2014-2016 are in the right-hand column.

Students applying to DePauw (Class of 2017)
Lateral Entries (Class of 2016, 2015, 2014 with existing high-level tech skills)
  1. Complete and return to the Office of Admission a DePauw University application.
  2. Write an essay that describes why you would like to participate in ITAP, what you hope to gain from the experience, and how you expect to contribute to the program and your fellow students. The 500-600 word formal essay should be well written and address the questions asked with examples.
  3. Submit your essay by completing the online ITAP Application - Class of 2017. Please follow the instructions on the application carefully to insure full consideration.
  4. Invitations for personal interviews will be extended to those who best fit the selection criteria. Those who cannot travel to campus for a face-to-face interview can interview via Skype or Google+.
  1. Complete the online application form (log into your DePauw Google Apps account), which includes an essay that describes why you would like to participate in ITAP, what you hope to gain from the experience, and how you plan to contribute to the program and your fellow students. Applicants should reserve the Saturday after classes start, August 31, for a mandatory, all-day orientation session.
  2. Request two staff or faculty (especially campus employers) from DePauw to submit letters of recommendation to itap_app@depauw.edu. To ensure those writing letters know what to do, copy and paste the following text in the email:
    Letters must be in an electronic format (emailed attachment in Word or as a PDF). Letters should describe what qualities and skills (including work ethic, initiative, responsibility, and maturity) make the student a successful candidate for the position of an ITAP intern. Letters might also include how academic and career plans align with the program, its offerings, and its philosophy. Email letters to itap_app@depauw.edu.
  3. Invitations for personal interviews will be extended to those who best fit the selection criteria.

Admission into ITAP is highly selective and based on: academic record, analytical skills, communication skills, extra-curricular activities, evidence of leadership and initiative, evidence of interest in and knowledge of ITAP, technology-related experience (projects, employment, courses, etc.), and existing technology skills. Experience with technology is desirable, but comfort working with it is more important. A passion to learn more about technology and its role in society are crucial as are strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
