April 25, 2008

East College 07 Tulips.jpgApril 25, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "Greg Lewis, social studies chairman at Columbus East High School, recently received the inaugural Battey National Educator of the Year Award from DePauw University's Honor Scholar Program," reports Indiana's Columbus Republic. "The award recognizes a teacher who inspired a current DePauw Honor Scholar while that student was attending a high school, middle school or elementary school. Lewis was nominated by Janelle Blasdel, a DePauw senior."

The newspaper's Chrissy Alspaugh writes, "Lewis said he nearly discarded the mailed award announcement, Greg Lewis.jpgthinking it was 'some sort of solicitation. When I realized what it was, it was a complete shock. Very humbling to say the least.'"
