Student Volunteers Make 'Tots Time' Possible

November 15, 2011

103086November 15, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — A DePauw University community service program, Tots Time, "is open to all residents of Putnam County with children younger than five," notes an article in the Banner-Graphic. Now in its thirty-second year, Tots Time utilizes DePauw student volunteers to provide three hours of free child care to local residents each Tuesday at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, located on the DePauw campus.

According to the newspaper, "The program allows parents to get some rest, go grocery shopping or just enjoy time to themselves for a few hours. Each week the children are able to participate in free play, a craft, story time and a snack." It is made possible by "the volunteer student help from DePauw University."

"DePauw Community Service volunteers make our program possible throughout the year," 5793says Cari Cox, director of Putnam County Family Support Services. "We are able to provide a lot of individualized care and attention."
