University Band featured on international internet broadcast
The DePauw University Band was recently featured in an encore performance on Wind & Rhythm, an international syndicated internet broadcast devoted to wind music.
“Episode #540: The Ultimate Wind Instrument” includes a performance by the ensemble, with Carla Edwards as organ soloist in the fourth movement, “IV. Toccata (Moto perpetuo)” of Joseph Jongen's “Symphonie Concertante.”
Originally composed for organ and orchestra, this arrangement for band was completed by James Beckel, professor of trombone in the DePauw School of Music, and is featured on the University Band's ninth compact disc, “United Artists.”
The university band is heard alongside the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Empire Brass.
The broadcast, along with all other Wind & Rhythm broadcasts, can be heard at www.windandrhythm.com.
