August 31, 2009

Jim Gammon.jpgAugust 31, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — James Gammon, professor emeritus of biology at DePauw University, has been inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Located in Hayward, Wisconsin, the Hall recognizes individuals "who have had a lasting national or world impact to the benefit of freshwater sportfishing." It has honored more than 300 persons and organizations since 1980.

"In addition to having my picture displayed with other past recipients in the museum, I must scour the North American continent for deserving professionals to honor for their efforts to maintain and improve freshwater fishing and, of course, the aquatic environments that support that activity," Dr. Gammon writes. "Luckily, I have a good number of former students, some of whom Fishing HOF-1.jpgare now retired, scattered from Maine to California and Alaska to Florida who are helping me in this assignment."
