Emmanuel Alonge Wins Research Poster Competition in Washington DC (Fall 2022)

Emmanuel Alonge traveled to Washington DC for the STARS Celebration Poster Competition on
September 10, 2022. STARS is an organization, which hosts a national-level conference for computer science students with funding by the National Science Foundation. Emmanuel competed against students from liberal arts schools such as Grinnell College and large research institutions such as North Carolina State University and Florida State University. Emmanuel won first place in the poster competition for his research with Professor Khadija Stewart entitled, "Distributed Anomaly Detection using Machine Learning Techniques in IoTs". (Google "Internet of Things", if you are not familiar with IoTs.) Emmanuel extended a research project developed by Dr. Stewart and Jordyn Blakey. The Computer Science Department thanks the Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant (Principal Investigators Jackie Roberts, Pam Propsom, Dana Dudle, and Colleen Renick) and Dean Scott Spiegelberg for funding Emmanuel's travel.
