Ann Lamport Hammitte '83 Joins Lowrie, Lando and Anastasi, LLP

July 14, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - Ann Lamport Hammitte, a 1983 graduate of DePauw University, has joined Lowrie, Lando and Anastasi, LLP (LL&A), the newest intellectual property law firm in Boston, as a partner. She comes from Lahive & Cockfield, LLP, of Boston, where she had been a partner since 1997 specializing in intellectual property law litigation and related actions.

A company news release distributed by Business Wire states, "Ann Lamport Hammitte specializes in trademark protection and enforcement, copyright law and intellectual property litigation. Her litigation experience spans patents, copyright and trademarks, and includes U.S. Opposition and Cancellation practice, U.S. Interference practice, and European Opposition practice. She has authored several papers on patent and copyright law, including a chapter entitled 'Interference Practice' in the treatise Intellectual Property Counseling and Litigation. She is also a registered patent attorney with experience in a variety of technologies and is a trained mediator."

The release notes that Hammitte serves on a number of associations and as a board member of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. It adds, "Ann received her Juris Doctor from Boston University. Prior to entering law school she was a research assistant in the fields of medical genetics and a staff member at the Medical Genetics Clinic affiliated with the Indiana University Medical Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology and premedical science, cum laude, from DePauw University, and a master's degree in medical genetics from Indiana University."
