Historian David Witwer '85 Receives Two Fellowships

Witwer, associate professor and chair of history at Lycoming College and 1985 graduate of DePauw University, "has received a year-long full fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as a research fellowship from the Gilder Lehman Institute of American History," reports Pennsylvania's Williamsport Sun-Gazette. "The Humanities Fellowship will be awarded for next year so that Witwer can work on a book on controversial newspaper columnist Westbrook Pegler."

It continues, "The research fellowship will supportseveral weeks of research in New York City at Columbia University's Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Witwer has a doctorate in history from Brown University. His undergraduate degree is from DePauw University."

Professor Witwer authored the book, Corruption and Reform in the Teamsters Union, named one of Choice magazine's outstanding academic books for 2004.  Read more by clicking here.
