Bob Smith '80 Profiled in Des Moines Register

April 29, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Bob Smith, vice president & general counsel at Vermeer Manufacturing Company and 1980 graduate of DePauw University, is profiled in today's Des Moines Register. The Iowa newspaper's "You should get to know" feature includes a brief Q&A with Smith, who earned a degree from Drake University Law School after double majoring in economics and political science at DePauw.

"Integrity is how you act when you know no one else is looking," Smith says. " I learned a lot about honesty, fairness and dignity from watching my late father interact with his employees in the small business that he ran. I now get daily lessons in servant-hearted leadership from watching Bob Vermeer and Mary Andringa, the brother-sister co-chief executives who now lead Vermeer Corp."
