If you are reporting a FIRE, the need for an AMBULANCE, or need EMERGENCY POLICE SERVICES:

Silent Witness is an anonymous email reporting tool. Use this link to send an email to the DePauw Police Department to report any suspicious or criminal activity.
Reporting a Missing Student
A Missing Student is any person who is a student of DePauw University, resides in a University-approved facility, and is reported missing from their residence.
If it is believed a student is missing, immediate referral to the DePauw Police Department is required. Officers are trained in the investigation of crimes, including missing persons.
Reporting Procedure

Both offices will immediately notify the DePauw Police Department when a student has been reported missing.
Missing Student Procedure

Upon receiving information about a possible missing student, notify the DePauw Police Department immediately.

Immediate attempts will be made to locate the student.

Officials will determine the last known whereabouts of the student using available resources.

Officials will consult with a Dean from the Student Academic Life Division for updates and additional information. The Dean of Students will decide if other Cabinet members and/or University Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) should be notified.

DePauw Police Officers will follow any leads to determine the student’s current location.

No later than 24 hours after confirming a student is missing, notification must be made to the Emergency Contact.
For students under 18 who are not emancipated:

The institution must notify a custodial parent or guardian, in addition to any additional contact person designated by the student.

Students can update this information via their Student Enrollment Verification or Student Profile on e-services. This information is confidential and accessible only to authorized campus officials for the purpose of a missing person investigation.
Regardless of age or emancipation status, the DePauw Police Department must be notified of any missing student.

Notification occurs no later than 24 hours after the missing student determination.

If abduction is suspected, all agencies will commence a thorough and aggressive investigation immediately.

Once the student is located, notification will be made to involved University offices and any law enforcement agencies that were alerted.
