Tuition & Aid

Since DePauw University’s founding as Indiana Asbury, the University has sought to offer educational opportunities to students with the gifts and potential to use them to fullest advantage. We have long been committed to access for students regardless of who they are or where they come from. In fact, that commitment dates back to 1837, when our original charter called on the community to maintain the school “for the benefit of the youth of every class of citizens, and of every denomination, who shall be freely admitted to equal advantages and privileges of education.”

At DePauw, you will never be in a lecture hall with 200+ students listening to a graduate student teaching from behind a microphone. You will spend your time at DePauw with a dozen students sitting in a circle with a full-time faculty member. You will have advisers to guide your education and your career planning. You will have opportunities to develop as a leader, to test your interests through internships and study abroad. And you will do all this on a campus built to support you. Providing such an experience is expensive, but that does not mean it cannot be affordable.

It is our commitment to be your partner throughout the financial aid process and to assist you in making this exceptional form of education accessible to you and your family.

Breakdown of Costs for 2015-2016

Tuition $43,950
Housing & Meals $11,780
Mandatory Fees $728
Total $56,458

*There may be additional charges for both on-campus and off-campus Winter Term courses.

It’s important to note that the direct cost may not be the true cost to your family.  If you are an exceptional student with solid grades and a passion for being involved, you will likely qualify for University merit awards.  We also offer financial aid based on need.  For most students, your true cost will be less than the published cost – we will help you find ways to make the investment in a DePauw education one that is within reach for you.

Assess Affordability With The Net Price Calculator

The net price calculator will give you an estimate of the amount of financial aid you may be offered if you are accepted to DePauw.  We encourage all prospective students to complete the net price calculator as a first step.  As you make plans for the investment in a college degree, staff in our Office of Financial Aid stand ready to assist you by answering questions you may have about DePauw specifically, or about the financial aid process more broadly.
