Sandy Lane creates work that explores the manner in which storytelling affects and shapes cultural and social mores.  Her mixed media works and installations reference and appropriate a wide range of symbolic imagery from diverse belief systems that are transformed into potent narratives of contemporary society and culture.

Mind Storm: Contemporary American Folk Art from the Arient Family collection features works from the impressive, respected collection of Chicago-area collectors Jim and Beth Arient.  This exhibition showcases and celebrates the artistic vision and production of self-taught American artist, provides insight into the processes and nuances of collecting, and exposes the personal relationships that often form between artist and collector.
