Andrew Marsh on campus September 13

September 9, 2016

On Tuesday, September 13, DePauw’s Department of Art and Art History will host contemporary artist Andrew Marsh.  Marsh’s beautiful and terrifying art celebrates life in the face of severe chronic pain, combining performative earthworks with pyrotechnic research. Marsh’s lecture, Alchemy Insanity, will cover his innovative art form and his own history and career as an artist.
As an Artist in Residence at the award-winning City Museum in St. Louis, MO, Andrew constructed over 50 interactive exhibits, monumental steel playground features, and specialty environments in this most unusual museum. Marsh’s sculptures have been featured in over 250 group and solo exhibitions, collections and events throughout the United States and United Kingdom.   He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors and Executive Officer for Josephine Sculpture Park in Frankfort KY as well as Assistant Director for Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research at the University of Louisville.
These events are made possible by the Department of Art and Art History Carol Bowers Norris Endowed Artists/Speakers Series Fund.
